International Research Teaching Forests promotes women in Science and Non-Traditional Trades.
As nurturers of living things, families, and children, women can bring these virtues to work within a Forest environment contributing to community sustainability, socially, environmentally, and economically.
International Research Teaching Forests Incorporated believes in, practices, and promotes Life-Long-Learning. Life- Long-Learning is pursuing both formal and informal opportunities to continually develop and improve one’s knowledge and skills for both employment and personal fulfillment and to fulfill purpose in life. It is a form of self-initiated education that is focused on personal development.
In an aging society, an intergenerational exchange is important to ensure social cohesion across all ages. Common learning activities among school children, adults and older citizens can enrich learning processes and help fight isolation and exclusion. Teaching Forests provide that opportunity. Intergenerational learning leads to social inclusion. Additionally, to strengthen the local economy and ensure decent work and entrepreneurship opportunities, it is essential to provide targeted skills development, enhancing citizens’ chances for meaningful and secure employment. At a local level, a wide range of activities can support prosperous communities: encouraging the production and selling of local products, creating on-the-job training opportunities, promoting entrepreneurial projects among children and youth, and providing mentoring programs for vulnerable groups.
With a Life-Long-Learning policy, International Research Teaching Forests Incorporated aims to create learning opportunities for all, at every level, engaging different stakeholders and exploring the participation of different agencies and organizations. It is important also to emphasize the relevance it has to support disadvantaged communities, and to adopt global goals at the local level.
