What is a Teaching Forest?
A Teaching Forest is a forest dedicated to promoting education and appreciation for the forest environment, intergenerational mentorship, development of business opportunities, nurturing spiritual, traditional, and physical health, recreation and well -being in community and a place for employment and provision of livelihood.
An Accessible Research Teaching Forest can help to create environmental, social, and economic stability and sustainability in rural community and foster connectivity to the world.
Why is a Teaching Forest Needed?
1. Our goals to continue to diversely build on our multiple natural resources and link to international science and research to increase awareness, appreciation and environmental sustainability.
2. We aspire to expose our young and old to a global range of valuable opportunities in our natural world.
3. There is an identified need to build our society to one of solutions, creativity, and innovation to further social and economic diversity and prosperity for members of our rural business community. Part of innovation is developing co-existing Eco-Edu Adventure Tourism with Applied Research and Development in coordination with environmental education and stewardship learning.
